About Us

We are a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that seeks to assist school learners who come from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and currently disadvantaged households, learners who do very well academically but do not know how to go about obtaining a scholarship or a bursary, who attend school with torn shoes, no stationary and other basic necessities. As an organisation we strive to live by the values of UBUNTU by ensuring that we assist those who need help. UBUNTU is our foundation!

The name UBUNTU is an African proverb that means, “I am because we”, or humanity towards others. (Umntu ngumntu ngabantu) but is often used in a more philosophical sense to mean “the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity.”

Our Mission

The mission is to link those socially responsible companies with those academically deserving learners from those previously disadvantaged schools.

Assisting children that come from abusive backgrounds and ensuring that they get the intervention needed through social programmes (e.g. social workers).

Assisting learners in getting basic necessities like school uniform, stationery, food, scholarships, bursaries, etc.

Motivating: Having speakers visiting schools, sharing their experiences and insight, words of wisdom and advice to our young brothers and sisters.

Mentor-ship and Learner-ship programmes.

Our Vision

We want to see those who cannot help themselves being helped, and those who can help helping, true happiness comes from helping others.

This will unify us all and have us all fall under the one banner of ”Humanity” (UBUNTU)

Our Objectives

Provide educational support and resources to disadvantage leaners.

Link socially responsible companies with academically deserving students from previously disadvantaged schools.

Promote the values of UBUNTU and humanity towards others

My Story

As a self-motivated and optimistic individual, I am driven by growth, change, and progress. My personal journey has been instrumental in shaping my vision and mission. Raised by a single mother, Growing up in Site C, Khayelitsha, a township often associated with negative stereotypes, I was determined to defy the odds. I told myself that my background would not define my future. Instead, it fueled my passion to make a difference. Having experienced the struggles of attending school with worn-out shoes and on an empty stomach, I understand the plight of disadvantaged youth. I recall asking my teachers for bread when there was no food at home. These experiences sparked a desire to empower young people from similar backgrounds.

My dream is to show disadvantaged children that their circumstances do not dictate their potential. Through UBUNTU is Our Foundation, a proudly South African nonprofit organisation founded in 2019, I aim to be the change I want to see in my community and country.
